Alfred Jodl


Alfred Jodi was a military commander with the position of the Chief of Operations staff of armed forces high command. He gave orders for the German army's campain. This was against Holland, Belguim, Norway and Poland. Alfred Jodl also planned an attack on Greece and Yugostavia. To end the war he signed Germany's unconditional surrender on May 7, 1945 in Europe. Alfred strongly disagreed with many of Hitler's harsh orders. Alfred's case ruled as a death sentence and he was hanged in Nuremburg on October 16, 1946. Some call Jodl's sentence harsh in the sentences recieved bt other officers of similar rank.

Me- So howhigh are you in rank?
Alfred- I was a military commander.
Me- What did you think of Hitler?
Alfred- I didn't agree with him at all.
Me- What do other people think of your death sentence?
Alfred- Many say it was to harsh.
Me- What crime did you commit against peace?
Alfred- I gave orders to Germany's army campain.
Me- I see.
Me- Did you help plan anything?
Alfred- Yes, I planned the attack on Greece and Yugoslavia.
Me- Hmmm, ok.
Me- I hear you were also charged with war crimes is that true?
Alfred- Yes.
Me- So did you like Hitler at all?
Alfred- Not a bit.
Me- So you didn't get involved at all with the mass genocide?
Alfred- I hardly knew, I was busy with the battle.
Alfred- Indictment knocked me on the head.
Me- So what do you know about all of this?
Alfred- I had no idea about 90 percent of the accusations.
Me- What do you think about the crimes?
Alfred- These crimes are horrible beyond belief, if they are true.
Me- Do you think you did wrong?
Alfred- I don't see how they can fail to recognize a soldiers obligation to obey oreders.
Me- How long have you lived by this?
Alfred- My whole life.
Me- When did you decide Hitler was no good?
Alfred- The order to kill the escaped British fliers. There was absolutely no justification for that. From then on, I knew what kind of a man Hitler was.
Me- So you were charged with all but crimes against humanity?
Alfred- I guess so.
Me- Anything you would like to say about your planned attack against Greece and Yugoslavia?
Alfred- Terror attack against English centers of population... will paralyze the will of the people to resist.
